727 By Takashi Murakami 1996 at the MoMA
I dislike the style of this painting and the kind of anime character that he is creating. I personally am just not a fan of that type of animation. I think the artist was trying to create movement throughout the panels with the waves and then the character must have some meaning to him, perhaps it was in a childhood television show that he enjoyed.
Jake at the New Viet Huong by Elizabeth Peyton 1995 MoMA
I liked this painting immediately because of the use of warm color(orange) all throughout the painting which I thought helped to create a sense of unity within the piece. Additionally I was drawn to the painting because it has such a strong focal point with the man sitting directly in the center of the canvas. I think that the artist was trying to create a a feeling of suspicion or curiosity within the viewer due to the mans body posture and facial expression. I get the sense that this man is maybe up to no good.
