Assignment 2-Art
This painting is done by Thomas Nozkowski
Title: Untitled 8-19
Date: 2001
The main idea I find most interesting about the painting is the painters style. The use of style in his work is abstracted from reality giving it sense of uniqueness not found in most paintings. This type of style creates these paintings using sources from the physical world. By doing this, the painter finds different formal devices he normally would not have found using the formal way of painting. The use of style works in this painting by creating new ideas, shapes, and creations not found in the normal way of painting.

Title: iamb (blind smile): Chapter 12
Date: 2008
The main idea I find most interesting about the painting is the way this painter uses value. This idea works in this painting by using the lights and darks to put emphasis on the subject (the man). The use of this value also gives the painting a mood. Here we see a dark, depressing and almost longing type of mood. This value also gives the painting a kind of texture. You can see this by the lights and darks working together on the subject to give it a human texture. This is also viewed on the blinds over the window giving it a fine/precise feeling. His transition of value is very prominent but is blended well together making the value changes flow nicely across the painting.
