Painting I dislike: "Margaritas" by Hurvin Anderson. This painting depicts a bar setting, which includes two shelves with bottles, pictures of different outdoor settings and either wood or wood wallpaper on parts of the walls. This is all seen through an ornate red iron divider that separates the two rooms. We're experiencing this work through the divider possibly because it represents entrapment, and maybe a battle with alcoholism. I dislike this painting because the title is deceiving. Although this is a bar setting, which would have to do with a margarita, the only drinks shown are the bottles on the shelves, therefore not linking anything in this depiction to a fully made margarita, although the ingredients to make one are probably in this painting.

Painting I like: "The Gardeners" by John Currin. This painting depicts what is probably an old married couple about to plant something. What I liked about this painting was that the two shovels and the tree draw your eye to what's happening. Also, I like the irony of this painting: the fact that they're two older people planting a plant, which resemble's new life.
